children and choices

if i have learned anything in life, it is that as a parent you MUST prepare your child for real life....

you have to steer your child in the right direction, allow them to make choices and while these choices may not always be one you agree with you must allow them to explore. This will eliminate the issue of them not being able to make choices once they are adults.

I always make it clear that my children have choices, allow them to pick their own clothes when getting dressed in the morning, choose the shoes they want to wear. Give them the ability to choose between pb&j for lunch or a turkey sandwich. While these may look like minimal decisions, it is the foundation for a child to continue to make decisions.

As these children get older allow them to make different choices. give them two options for anything you are able this way they can feel as though they took part in the decision making process.

My daughters grandfather works at a college and he tells me all the time how these parents come in for their ADULT children and take over everything because that ADULT child is unable to develop their own decisions.

of course im not saying allow your child to do anything they want. this is not the case at all. you are a parent and should act as such, the idea is that the child will grow to be able to stand on their own.

bkashawna: wasup Gonz I want to thank you for taking some time out to do this interview today. How is your morning going, you excited for the weekend?

Gonz: Your welcome, and thank you for the chance and oppertunity. My morning is cool and this weekend im working on the video shoot for my next single "Shock" Ft Royce Holiday

bkashawna: A new video ey? You having a casting call for it? or is everyone invited....

Gonz: yea a new video its actually going to be a two part video and yes i did a casting and i hand selected everyone who is going to be in the video.

bkashawna: cool cool. only problem is I wasnt invited. nah just kiddin. But when should the fans expect this video to be posted?

Gonz: hahaha your always invited!! the video should be posted the following week I dont have a date yet but the following week would be a fair answer. editing is that key to every video...!

bkashawna: iight I'll be looking out for it. So lets really get into this interview. My first question is something I've been wondering for the longest! What made you pick the name gonz, is there a story behind it?

Gonz: thats a good question i know its a different name and most of the time people dont even say it right! but I go the name Gonz from way back in my senior year of high school and in my home room there were like 8 justins in a row. my last name is gonzalez so everyone just calling me Gonz or Gonzo lol so it kinda just stuck!

bkashawna: wait and how old are you?

Gonz: 22! I know i have a baby face

bkashawna: lol and you said way back like it was that long ago. stop tryna fool these people. so how long have you been doing this music thing?

Gonz: lol... okay well I started doing music seriously on feb 14 2009 and before that i was a hype man... but never really wrote music just was a fan...

bkashawna: word. what made you decide to get into it and start writting? what inspired you?

Gonz: well at the time i was going through a bad relationship so one day i just woke up and starting making songs... i wrote about 5 songs before i actually opened up to the public and 3 of them mad my album... it didnt really hit me as to how much talent i had untiill i won the Milkboy expo competition last fall that help me fund my album that is out now

bkashawna: yea winning a competition like that must of been exciting. what would you like to achieve as an artisit?

Gonz: well the sky is the limit.. i would like to cross over into different areas of music and make timeless hits... but i would also like to get into movies and motion picture i have a good eye and imagination! i guess i just see things different.... money has very little to do with why im in the this industry... I am an artist and not many of these so called artist are artist! they just "THERE" and people are accepting the bullshit out there because people are afraid to take a chance! but thats another conversation...

bkashawna: and we will have to have that conversation one day because im a firm believer in artists that put out bs are installing stupidity. but enough of that. what attracts you to hip hop?

Gonz: what atttacts me to hip hop is how open it can be.. and how universal it is... hiphop in my opinion is like the english language meaning it can combind from other cultures music and even languages to create a new area with in its self...

bkashawna: i hear that. but hold up... i gotta stop real quick, you know i have to ask cause all the girls wanna know, do you.......have a girlfriend?

Gonz: lol haha lets just say i have an option :) i dont have a ring on and wont for a while.

bkashawna: that didnt really answer the question but ill let you slide. what exactly do you look for in a female?

Gonz: personality... street smarts... is she in school... how focused they are drive.. and off course looks i dont know a man who wanna busted women... how they carry them self is also huge dirty girls aint my style!

bkashawna: oh come on you know everyone wants a busted chick haha. before i get back to the real interview is there anything you want to tell the ladies?

Gonz: I love heels a hot meal a women in her own car with a lil bit of b***h in her... She gotta be a diva! meaning confident in everything she chooses to do... im not into the whole barbie bullshit..!

bkashawna: yea that barbie stuff is wack. music wise, do you think your style has been influenced by anyone in particular?

Gonz: not really... people think im lunchin of drake but ive been doing that style of music with the whole sing rap thing... i listen to alot of soul and r&b music very little hiphop... so i guess the roots is of my style is smooth music... the maxwells, ll cool j's, mike jackon mc hammer, prince, anything that has meaning

Gonz: wow... yea but they all dead lol mike jackson... big papa... 2 pac... and miss one of in million aliyah

bkashawna: So theres nobody that’s alive that you would want to get up with?

Gonz: in todays game kanye... andre 3000... drake.... wayne.... nas... sade... maxwell ryan leslie.. timbo... jt and jayz 50 also trey songz cant for get him. i would work with anyone who make good music

bkashawna: i would def wanna hear you on something with andre 3000. im gonna wrap this up but one last question. is there any particular artists locally that you would want to collab with?

Gonz: hmmm.. well ive would with a few local artist... royce holiday... realest reeken brad wattz... rafael are you talking philly or bucks county

Gonz: well in bucks county My man Allstar pollard.. i think that would be crazy... as far as philly... miss knoni B... she an up and coming female artist but honestly there isnt anyone really jumping to me from philly that need to get on a record...!! i stick to my roots

you know its been some time since i last posted. there is always so much going on. spent a lot of time planning my daughters princess party. which leads me to my topic today.

do you think there is something wrong with allowing girls to dress as princesses? i mean some people have made comments to me about giving her false hope because she is not a princess. i mean personally i do not think it is that big of a deal shes a little girl its not like she is 15 and im telling her shes a princess you know what im sayin?

they also mentioned that she is always in the mirror. looking at herself. this has changed for the most part she isnt really in the mirror all the time anymore. but basically they are saying she shouldnt be that into herself.

she just turned 5. shes a little girl. she likes princesses and dressing up. i dont know. you tell me am i wrong for letting her pretend to be a princesses? am i taking it over board? my daughter isnt stuck up she is a very sweet well mannered little girl.

bkashawna: ok so lets kick this interview off with some general questions...

Epitome: sounds good to me

bkashawna: Whats your name, how old are you (if you feel like sharing), where are you from, where are you currently, let us know.

Epitome: Well for sake of not having stalkers we'll keep my name at Epitome, I'm 26 years old currently residing in Virginia at an undisclosed location

bkashawna: cool cool. So how long have you been blogging?

Epitome: Hmmm *does math in my head* 2005 my first blog was on my ooooold myspace page.

bkashawna: 5 years that's long while. What inspired you to start [blogging]?

Epitome: I've always been a writer, always been a story teller, I started writing in middle school when I was 11 and everyone loved to hear me tell a story because I'm a clown lol so I just started writing them for everyone to see.

bkashawna: Writing can be tough though, how do you manage to juggle life as a working mother and stay loyal to your readers?

Epitome: Looking back I don't really know LOL! My son's father gets him every weekend, I usually take that Sunday and write whatever I have on my mind at the time...I also write at work when I have the time, I take a notepad with me everywhere to write down ideas and little paragraphs

bkashawna: Dedication is key. Is there a certain process you use to determine what you are going to write about in each blog?

Epitome: Nope, I don't talk much; I do way more thinking than talking so my brain is always running amuck with ideas. Someone can say 1 word and I come up with a topic to write about. Sometimes the topics make it to the blog and sometimes I scrap them...just depends on how well my words flow when I get to typing
bkashawna: I have to ask this because I absolutely love it, what made you start Woman Law Wednesdays?

Epitome: I was sitting at the computer and I think I had just typed a blog that was like advice for women or something to that effect...and I was thinking there are man laws, but no woman laws. And I kinda see my blog as advice for the modern lady so women law was birthed

bkashawna: Yea cause some of these chicks nowadays need to learn some of your laws lol….lemme stop. Do you find that certain topics grab more attention than others, if so, what types?

Epitome: LOL! I so agree though...most def topics of sex grab attention; those are the ones that are commented on the most. Sex sells as they say. Besides that it would be some type of story I'm telling since I usually add some comedic flair to it. But sex blogs are DEF number 1 with my readers

bkashawna: Horny people taking OVER!!! Were almost done just a couple more questions. Have you ever felt like you may be sharing to much personal information? For example, you have gone into great detail about your situation with your mom. And yea I have been following your blog for quiet sometime now. lol.

Epitome: LMAO! Yes the horny people rule the Earth *coughs* bill clinton *coughs* I think I have given way more information than strangers should know, but I think some of it really needed to be said. You never know how your testimony can help another; I'm an open book for anybody to read. I pride myself on being 100% who I portray myself to be on blogger/twitter. But some cards do need to be held closer to your chest which is why I've limited things about my sex life, and things in regards to my son and his father. They didn't sign up for blogger; I did, so my blog should be only about me

bkashawna: totally understandable sharing is one thing, giving every single detail is another; you never know who may come across your blog. So, what do you believe it takes to be a good blog writer?

Epitome: Hmm....I think it takes imagination. You have to be creative, no one wants to read: "The dog ran by with the bone", what did the dog look like? Were you at the park? Were you on the street? Who else was there? You have to give the reader an experience, make them feel like they were there, or at least like you're telling them something face to face. I always put myself in the position of a painter or a screen play writer; you have to paint the scene for them

bkashawna: I agree, the more detail the better. We’re almost there lol. If you were able to give one piece of advice to any bloggers that are just starting off, what would it be?

Epitome: No bother at all! I love answering questions LOL. Can it be two parts? I was never good at following directions. I'd give them the same advice I give to everyone about anything (including my son)...don't do it if you don't love it, your reader will know and because you don't "build it" with your love for it, they won't love it. And if you're gonna do it strive to be the best at it. Don't half ass n anything, your reader will know.

bkashawna: Yea half assed work is definitely noticeable. And for my final question, if you had the opportunity to gain a big audience by commercializing your posts, would you change how you write?

Epitome: Hmmm...sacrifice my work for the almighty dollar...that's a tough question because lawd knows I love some cash. But no, I write for me, I write for people who like to read what I write, I don't need the fame, and I sure couldn't look my son in the eye if I sacrificed who I was for it. Remain true to thyself is a way of life for me

bkashawna: Yea it’s definitely not about changing who you are for people to like you. I really appreciate you giving me the opportunity to interview you Epitome. I really enjoyed it. And hey maybe well have to do it again and dig deeper into your brain lol.

Epitome: LOL! We can certainly do that, you find out a lot about yourself when someone else is asking the questions. Thanks for thinking I'm even worth the time

my babies are getting so big. where has time gone. i feel like just yesterday that i gave birth to my son. and that man is 8 years old now. its crazy.

this is making me realize that i need to appreciate life, and by life i mean everyday that i breath, everyday that i wake up and get out of bed, shit even just waking up.

i need to appreciate the fact that my kids are alive and that im alive to witness them growin up. there are some families that are no so lucky. i couldnt imagine losing a child or being a child and losing a parent.

i am 18 credits into my degree, i'm so excited. i honestly wish it would go faster but hey i'm sure i'm not the only person that has ever felt that way.

tattoo removal

so i have been looking into tattoo removal (i dont have any tattoos) its for someone else. but i havent been able to find much out theres only like one place that comes up that does it in the philadelphia area. which is crazy you would think there would be more than that but i guess tattoo removal is only just starting to become more popular.

what have you heard about laser tattoo removal. i read that if you can handle the pain of getting a tattoo you can handle the pain of getting it removed but i have heard other people say it hurts a lot more. i guess it all depends on the person.

would you get laser tattoo removal? do you know of any spots in the philadelphia jersey area that do tattoo removal? lemme know something.

i love cheeseburger cheeseburger! the kids and i took a little trip to cheeseburger cheeseburger. may i just say the best food in the world =] lol.

the kids loved the cardboard cars almost as much as the food, maybe more lol =x they are so silly.

while we were there someone ate their pounder and got their picture taken and added to the hall of fame. it was so funny, kareem was like aww man i wanted to eat one so i could get my picture taken. worst part about it is kareem can def smash one of those pounders as long as he doesnt take his medicine that day. he is crazy.

anyway if you have never been there you need to go. you will thank me seriously. its awesome.

it was just that time

i had to delete all of my old posts, and start a new. so much drama over the past year and change. and even tho i didnt include a lot of it, i included things that i needed to move on from. what sucks is that i deleted things from the blog that i actually really liked. but hey when its time to move on, you gotta let it go.
